Statistics have shown consistently that interventions of all types decrease with the presence of a constant birth companion, other than the father. Also, the new mother's feeling of satisfaction with the birthing experience is greater with the presence of a labour support woman.

Even when events occur which the birthing family could not predict or did not plan for, the prepared birthing woman with good support can cope with the unexpected better than a woman on her own.

The birth day is one of the most important days of the mother and father's lives. A birth which is looked back upon with joy and a sense of completion will prepare a family for good parenting, from the very beginning.

Do I work alone?

I organize and run the prenatal classes; provide your primary labour support; provide postnatal care and pregnancy consultations. However, I work with a good support network so that you are taken care of at all times in many ways. I have trained doulas who provide back-up for me in the rare instances that I cannot make it to a birth. I also train doulas, so occasionally a mother will be asked if she would mind an extra support person to help her through her labour. I have volunteers who are willing to help with extraordinary needs. I also have a list of resources in and around Montreal for the pregnant, birthing, or nursing mother.

My prenatal classes are tailor-made for each client. I occasionally run group classes for up to ten women.
I work mainly in hospitals and I have a good working relationship with several doctors in the central Montreal area.

The Doula Packages

Complete Birth Doula Package

* consists of a FREE consultation and:

* your personalized prenatal course which usually consists of three sessions;

* labour support: I will be available to you over the phone during early labour. When you feel the time is right, I will come to your house, then we will go to the hospital together. I will stay with you until after your baby is born;

* postnatal support: I will want to see you on the day after the birth, and once more at home.

* extra care if necessary

Experienced Mother Package

* consists of a FREE consultation and

* labour support: I will stay with you throughout your labour until after your baby is born
